Lunduke: The Alex Jones of Linux
Просмотров 18 тыс.7 часов назад
What happened to Bryan Lunduke, the Linux Sucks Guy? Bryan Lunduke originally made a series called “Linux Sucks” back in 2009 and is on-going today. It went over the various things that Linux Desktop is missing or can improve on. While it exposed some of Linux Desktop’s early flaws, it also showed a lot of Linux’s charm. For me, it was my first exposure to the thought “Wait… I can use Linux as ...

The $700 Fully Loaded Dygma Defy Keyboard
vmware workstation pro is free now for personal use, might be worth doing a guide for it.
Currently, I am testing SELinux on an Ubuntu 22.04.4 virtual machine & when I enable enforcing, mode the network gets turned off. Funny enough, when I enabled permissive mode, the network is restored. Am I configuring it wrong?
Good staff Chris. I wonder have you ever tried a two line prompt and what is your opinion of? I personally use it even on Windows cmd.
I have been using bash since it was a thing (circa 1989 way better than that csh or tcsh thing most of the other engineers were using). And I've been maintaining my bash environment all of that time. And now I won't because I've got you to do it for me. Thank you.
When it comes to Arch-forks. I sort of see them as... "I want Arch, but I can be arsed to set up my font settings and everything" distro.
I love back bash prompt videos
Will it work on powershell? Please make another update video for you powershell….i keep changing the theme but it keeps defaulting to the one you set.
Thanks for this information i was needing to do something like this to my phone that i only use for calls check mails and messages, since 2020 my phone was giving me 4 to 5 days without debloat, lets see how much extra battery time i get
install lsd and some nerd fonts
HACER MODE ON
Here is my problem with that prompt. It grows longer. So now entering my commands are forced to span multiple lines. Like dd stuff. I suggest embedding a CR/LF and put the prompt under the info line. Thanks for the video
I've used most of these guys (not McAfee or Norton for many years) and the one I use currently is kaspersky free. It's very light on resources; it's not nagware; it doesn't constantly bomb me with false positives. If I didn't have it, I'd probably stick with Defender, as all the rest do at least one of those things.
Use zsh
Man, you put my prompt config to shame! Really cool stuff!
This script will fail in MacOS. Can you create one for MacOS? 💻
Great. Now explain how to remove the "GameOptimizingService" which IMMEDIATELY reinstalls as soon as you uninstall it. 🤨
Guide: christitus.com/mybash/
For someone who complains a bloat quite a lot, your bash prompt has quite a bit of extra fluff
Oh no, the man wants to customize some of his shit. How horrible?
NO ONE EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!
It's just a Monty Python reference. Has nothing to do with the video. Just being silly.
Thank you very much for this
Hey Chris, it's a alright config. Here are some suggestions to improve it! (from the always-right Ctrl-F guy): 1. Check out my zsh config for cool features using fzf-tab. For bash users, there's something similar: fzf-tab-completion. This is a must-have. 2. Try using Atuin. It offers a better way of viewing history with a Ctrl+r shortcut and even syncs your history automatically. 3. Switch to eza for a prettier and more efficient version of ls. 4. Add more shortcuts, not just the zi I recommended. Consider keybindings for Neovim and others. Be creative, like adding one for fuzzy finding man pages. There are many repositories with helpful scripts for these.
test
didn't remove edge for me
I took screent shot from it
Please can you check it out ? GitHub error it creates the iso but with all bloat
It's so weird to me that we live in a republic yet most people are deeply uncomfortable with being political. There's many things in life more important than tech, especially for someone like him who saw how dangerous politics can be as a witness to the 2020 riots. I think we're gonna see a lot more people like him as time goes on.
Is there's an option to stretch image from 16:9 to native 16:10 like on the Steam Deck? It's the most important thing for me, I hate playing with these black bars
I wonder if we combine this with the ultimate powershell profile you had made alongside wsl 2, that's some new and promising horizons for sure!
Thanks for shring this, Chris! Linux noob here and I got a dependency error for fastfetch when initially running the script from Chris' page. I'm running Debian, so had to install fastfetch manually as per the instructions on its Github page. After installing fastfetch, it all seems to have run correctly.
Upon closer inspection during a re-run of the script: sudo apt install -y trash-cli bat meld jpico is returning "Unable to locate package jpico". Where can I get this package from, please? I've tried installing "joe" but no cigar... I'm on Debian, Bookworm 12.5
He should do what the youtuber Shadiversity is doing. He has a main channel that is completely free of politics, and then he has side projects that go into the "controversial" political stuff. I know that some people still dislike him because of the political stuff, but IMO if you need to do that, this is how you should do it.
why not fzf for history, replacing the reverse-i-search , so it will just open fzf menu for you history and you know how it works so no need to piping ...
I hadn't thought of that for some odd reason... til now! Haha, I'll get it added
You explaining stuff like not 80% of your viewers knows this already 😅 (love your content btw)
Instead of history | grep I use the command hstr. From web site HSTR (HiSToRy) is a command line utility that brings improved bash/zsh command completion from the history. It aims to make completion easier and more efficient than Ctrl-r. HSTR can also manage your command history (for instance you can remove commands that are obsolete or contain a piece of sensitive information) or bookmark your favorite commands.
This kind of worked for me. I end up having 3 different boot sectors after this. I am just going to back up my files and do a fresh install I think. Well after I make a customer ISO again...
Still hanging out for a terminal client that supports a status line (tput hs).
Ricing bash.
Is there a way to remove the "your browser is managed by your organization"
Hmm, sounds good. I might just replace my ohmyzsh with this.
I used to run Eset for almost every pc I had and was very satisfied with it. However, I started suspecting that it was causing damage to my RAM as every 2-3 years I had to replace some of my RAM modules. I'm running Windows defender for 4 years now, and I haven't replaced any of my RAM modules yet. I find it hard to believe that AV can cause damage to RAM modules, but it's a strange coincidence.
Midnight Commander shows archives as directories and extracts the files if you "copy" them.
I'd not spend real estate to display the clock. Its place is on the wall.
Is this prompt gonna mine crypto?
Where would you put your channel in this tier list?
Great work bro make it to your ultimate power for windows
How would an "Ultimate Windows" even be when M$ keeps ruining it? Linux keeps getting more appealing as M$ trashes their own OS.
10€😂
Bugs: distribution, install_bashrc_support -> Unknown distribution (I'm under EndeavourOS) !!
Looks great, I might try it out on my OpenSUSE. Btw, any reason why not zsh?
avast free antivirus is waset the money because they have priemium
I tried on gpd,aya neo and SD, but if it didn't fix sleep huge battery drain, steam deck ar still winner.
I have tried a whole lot of things. This is the only one that worked. Thanks a lot for this and for a lot of your other work.
